We All Scream for Ice Cream (and Gelato) at Ice Cream Extravaganza!

The weather has been… well… let’s say “unpredictable”, but that doesn’t change the fact that summer is right around the corner and that means…

ICE CREAM!

So, as a way to beckon in the (presumably) warmer weather and give students a break from finals prep, we brought some ice cream and gelato experts in to help throw an Ice Cream Extravaganza at Garden Commons! Our guests were none other than Madisono’s Gelato, Young’s Jersey Dairy and Miami Ice, who all provided tastes of their refreshing products.

Madisono’s Gelato is hand-crafted and features some really unique artisanal flavors like Carmello & Sea Salt and Madagascar Vanilla, which were served Thursday. The Cincinnati-based company makes gelato and sorbetto that is sold out of Market Street at MacCracken, if you’re looking for your own pint!

Young’s Jersey Dairy visited us from Yellow Springs, Ohio. They brought vanilla, key lime crunch, strawberry, chocolate peanut butter and chocolate ice cream with them (and brought a cow – how could we ignore that?). Young’s Dairy is more than just an ice cream maker, with a fun setup in Yellow Springs that is definitely worth a day-trip. And, as always, you can treat yourself to Young’s Dairy ice cream with a stop by Encounter at Maplestreet Station!

Miami Ice also made the trek (aka 5 minute walk) to Garden Commons to provide students with some of their very own gelato. Based out of Armstrong Student Center, Miami Ice makes their own gelato in-house and offers a variety of tasty flavors! On Thursday, guests were treated to their choice of Birthday Cake, Red Orange and/or Red Velvet gelato!

Thank you everyone who joined us for our Ice Cream Extravaganza and we hope you enjoyed it! As always, keep tabs on the world of Miami University Dining by following us on TwitterInstagram and Facebook! Don’t miss out on any future events or specials!
